“A Mother in Israel” – God’s Foretold Work – (Session 18)

Continuing in the book of Judges, we took a step back and visited the account of Deborah and Barak.

Since the story of Deborah is the most often used portion of scripture to defend leadership roles of women in ministry, we used this portion of Scripture to discuss the role of women in the church, as compared with the sections in the NT on male eldership, pastors, etc.

Additionally we looked at Paul’s statement, “You have many instructors but not many fathers” in reference to Deborah’s description of herself as a “mother in Israel.”
